Industrial controls, scaled down — still not a GC job

MEK Group · MEK Group · Sioux Falls

Living room with motorized blinds

A house is not a turbine hall. It also should not be a pile of consumer apps that stop talking after the first firmware update. We treat home automation like a small control system: labeled, documented, serviceable. That is specialty install. It is not general contracting.

What we install (when the scope is the system)

The 18-unit smart blind job was a specialty install on someone else’s project — not MEK as GC of the building. That is the scale landlords and GCs in the Sioux Falls metro actually need: one crew on the devices, not a company pretending to run the whole site.

  • — Smart lighting and switches
  • — Thermostats and climate
  • — Motorized blinds and window automation
  • — Cameras and smart locks
  • — EV charger circuits — as a trade visit, not as contractor of record while the SD license is in process
  • — A panel you can actually service later

What we will not be

Your general contractor. Your project manager. The company that hires the painter, the plumber, and the drywall crew and calls it a remodel package. If you need that, hire a licensed GC. If you need the blinds, the punch list, or the panel labeled, email us.

MEK Group is not the general contractor and not the project manager on residential or B2C construction. We do not run a stack of trades under our name. South Dakota contractor / electrical licensing for the local entity is in process — we do not advertise licensed GC, PM, or electrical-contractor-of-record work until that is issued. Home work here is owner-operated specialty and punch-list scope, quoted from photos.
