Clean the dryer hose before the laundry pile-up
A crushed hose and a packed lint cap are how dryers run hot. Twenty minutes with the machine pulled out — or we do it on a visit.

Why it matters here
Sioux Falls winter means more indoor drying. Lint in the hose is a fire load. The outdoor flapper stuck shut is how the laundry room gets humid and the cycle never ends.
Do this
- 01Unplug the dryer and pull it straight out — don’t kink the hose
- 02Disconnect the hose at the dryer and at the wall
- 03Shake out lint. Replace a crushed, foil, or vinyl hose with rigid or semi-rigid metal
- 04Check the exterior cap opens and isn’t nested with lint or a bird screen packed solid
- 05If the run is long, in the slab, or you smell burning, stop and email us a photo of the hose and the cap
